Physical Description

Old Timers Machine

Washing cradle consisting of a wooden, sled-shaped base on rockers and a wooden washing tray with a perforated base. The base, made of cedar and iron, comprises of a flat base with two rockers underneath. Three sides are enclosed and slope up to a higher point at the back (on which the washing tray rests). A crudely shaped wooden handle extends up vertically from one side. The gold washing tray is square in shape and has a base consisting of a single sheet of metal perforated with rows of holes.

 

 

Aussie Gold Dogs Machines

Physical Description

Washing cradle consisting of 2mm aluminium sled shaped base on a new rocker assembly. The washing tray is 2mm aluminium with 1/4" perforated steel mesh. Rockers are 20mm square tube. This unit has been made level as most places that it will be used will have a natural slope. Three sides are enclosed and slope up to a higher point at the back (on which the washing tray rests). The handle will be an optional extra. The unit is rectangle in shape. The tray in the washing area will have a Aussie Gold Dog Crevis matting for fine gold catching. The bottom main tray will have Aussie Gold Dog Pocket matting for fine gold to picker size. Galvinised Ripples will be optional extras.

 

The old timers used to use heshan bags in there cradles and other machines to catch the fine gold and pickers in. 

 

Our machines are using the Aussie Gold Dogs Pocket and Crevis matting which acts similar to the heshan bags, the pocket mats have hundreds of small 2mm deap holes all independant catch zones which work very well with the rocking motion used with the gold cradles.

 

Ive looked at most prospecting mats and would not use any of them in a rocker, they are fine for directional flow but not side to side. Where the Pocket and Crevis mats are designed to be used in both, directional and rocking.
